I can’t think of a better song that so simply describes what it’s like to be in love “I wanna be with you everywhere” is just so perfectly said. Paramore does a really good cover of this song if you’re ever interested in hearing it.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, I'm so glad you chose it! When I think of this song it definitely brings my mood up. Not only the lyrics but the tune just is super uplifting. I like how you brought up how the song is like butterflies in your stomach. I never thought of it that way but I really like that perspective. Have you ever heard their song "Little Lies"? That has to be my all time favorite. I feel like that song is almost the opposite of this one. It talks about broken hearts rather than exciting new love. You should definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard this song before today, but I love it! The way you described it was the same feeling I got upon hearing it! This was an incredibly change of musical pace that I needed this week.
ReplyDeleteHello Kimberly. I also chose one of Fleetwood Mac's songs for my analysis. The song I picked was The Chain, a complete opposite of this song. The Chain is a break up song written when several band members were not getting along. Some were going through a divorce. Honestly, at first I thought that Everywhere was written much earlier than The Chain because it is so upbeat and is about that feeling when you are just falling in love. I was surprised to learn that Everywhere was written ten years later than The Chain. It made me dig into the history behind the song. I found out that Christine McVie was in love with Eduardo Quintela, the fellow musician whom she married just prior to Everywhere being released. Fleetwood Mac is an amazing band. And I agree with our professor Kljaich, who said, "Being in a band is so much like being in a marriage." Thank you for sharing this song with us.
ReplyDeleteThe intro to this song makes me feel like I’m in a dream. I really enjoyed listening to this song. I feel like this song really relays an obsessive love. I love that it is very mellow and harmonious. I will be listening to more Fleetwood Mac because of this, I quite enjoyed how the rhythm flowed and how the high note vocals really complemented the song altogether. Thank you for introducing me to this song in particular!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your interpretation of that honeymoon stage of when two people first fall into the stages of love, the term "I want to be with you everywhere" sets an amazing example of that spend all my time over and over and over again with a person in the honeymoon phase. This almost sounds like something the creators of "take on me" would create, with that same repetitive but catchy one liner, only instead of "I want to be with you everywhere" it is "take on me and take me on". Similar artsy video as well.

Side note ! For whatever reason my test comment name kept popping up whenever I made a comment so for future reference my name is not tester it is Taylor."
Hey Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteYour blog about Fleetwood Mac took me back in time! I live in Alaska now, surrounded by quiet and nature. But I grew up in the busy city of Detroit in the '70s. The music from those times is still close to my heart.
Even though I'm far away from my old city, songs from my childhood bring back lots of memories. Music is powerful like that. It's amazing how different tunes can remind us of different times in our lives. Your writing about "Everywhere" makes me want to hear that song and feel the happy and hopeful vibes you talked about.
I might be from the city and you might have different favorite tunes, but music connects all of us. Now, I want to listen to my old records and travel back in time to my days in Detroit. Thanks for reminding me how special music is, no matter where we are.
I have not listened to many Fleetwood Mac songs, but I do have a band that is stuck in my memory for all time. every summer my family and I would go camping and every time I rode in my dads car he would play: "Killing in the name" by Rage against the machine, and every time I hear that song it reminds me of those fond memory's.
